On March 17 1980, Star Surf opened it's doors opposite the General Post Office in Forrest Place, Perth. It was a tiny shop but from the outset proprietor Dave Kennedy had the vision to establish the "total surf shop". It was apparent at that stage that no shop in the city stocked any real variety of surf goods, so Star stepped up to the challenge and offered Perth the latest and largest range of everything that emanated surf culture. Success was quick to follow due to the already huge selection and friendly attitude that "if we didn't have it, we'd get it in!"
